Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2014 to All of You!

Dear Elders and Sisters,
This is a glorious time of year, when we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. We finished as family our assignment to read our Book of Mormon. How wonderful it was for us – immediately we could “see and feel” some small changes of our attitudes. Still we continue to work with The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ.
We like what Elder Neal A. Maxwell wrote: The larger Christmas story is clearly not over. It is not solely about some other time, some other place, and some other people. It is still unfolding, and we are in it! (The Christmas Scene, p. 11.)
We are in it, and we would like to renew our acceptance of His invitation to “Come unto me” as recorded by Isaiah in the Old Testament, Matthew in the New Testament, and Alma and Nephi in the Book of Mormon. Another thought is also not only to believe in Jesus’ identity as the Christ, but also and more to believe in His ability, in His power to cleanse and to save. We thank you for your love, prayers, and for our united service in the "German vineyard" – and we wish you a peaceful and hopeful Christmas season.
I’d like to finish with William Butler Yeats and with the plea to be united in our companionships: “Think where mans glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends.”

We love to serve this mission with you together. One sister wrote recently, "As I was watching the movie 17 miracles, I reflected on my own life and my calling as a missionary. I was not one chosen to cross the plains, but I have been chosen to bring the gospel to the people here in Germany. I may not be starving or burying loved ones along the way, but there are those here who are 'starving' for the gospel. We are FINDING loved ones-precious sons and daughters of God- and bringing them into the fold. 'How great is our calling.' I feel rejuvenated and ready to work."

Merry Christmas – ein Gesegnetes Weihnachtsfest mit Blick auf das Neue Jahr 2014.
Love, President and Sister Kosak
